Steward Machine Shop : About Us

Our company vision is simple. To provide quick and reliable machining and repair services no matter the size of the job. We can take on any job from machining a huge 10,000 lb raw forging to a small welding repair job for a local farmer. Our background in Millwrighting and Machining allows us to provide custom and complete solutions to many customers, large, small and in between.

Our History

Steward Machine Shop Ltd. was started in the very early 1970's by Wes Steward and his family on a piece of land severed from the family farm. The main focus was heavy turning of large forgings that were manufactured by local forging companies. The business was passed down through the family and expanded to 3 buildings on the original property.

Because of the size and weight of the pieces machined, we have always used extremely heavy North American built machines such as Warner Swasey lathes and Bullard vertical turret lathes. These machines are legendary in their strength and robust construction. We are able to quickly and accurately machine down large castings and forgings much larger than most shops can handle.

In 2015, Chris Moore joined Steward Machine Shop Ltd. as an owner to carry on the business the Steward family has built. He has brought over 20 years of millwright and machining experience which broadens our capabilties extensively. We have expanded into a full service manual machine shop that can also handle repairs and fabricating. Contact Chris directly to speak about your project or machining needs.
